Android Version: Certified Android TV OS
It is important to point out that the NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro runs the official, fully certified Android TV OS, and not stock Android (AOSP).
Stock Android OS is typically seen within generic Android TV boxes like the T95Q, X96 Max, and the Beelink GT-King. Because the SHIELD runs certified Android TV, you have access to the true Google Play Store formatted specifically for television screens, and Chromecast is built right in.

Is It Netflix Certified?
Yes. The NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro is fully certified by Google, Netflix, and Amazon. You can stream 4K content flawlessly on Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, and Max. It also fully supports Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos surround sound passthrough.
The SHIELD Pro is touted as the best Android TV Box on the market today thanks to its massive processing power, which is highly convenient for maintaining fast download speeds when a VPN like Surfshark or IPVanish is activated. We typically see a significant decrease in download speed when a VPN is activated on cheaper sticks, but due to the raw CPU power of the SHIELD, the speed loss is very minimal.

I currently use Kodi on a Mini Mac and am looking for a change. I considered a mini-PC but after reading about the Nvidia Shield TV Pro it tweaked my interest. I like working with Windows, old habits are hard to break. Is the Nvidia Shield TV something that would work well for me? I’m not into gaming that much so it would be used strictly for Kodi and I don’t mind spending the extra money. Is the shield OS android just like working on your phone? Is it easy to add add-ons etc? Any advice would be most appreciated.

The Shield pro is one of the best you can git hands down. With every steaming device nothing takes advantage of the hardware ?
I recently upgraded to the pro from using a Firestick.
I couldn’t be happier! I added a 256 gb storage through one of the usb drives. Excellent for both gaming and streaming with no lag at all. I was experiencing issues with with both lagging and running out of storage with the Amazon Firestick.
Do I need to have an ANDROID TV or 4K TV in order to use this NAVIDA SHIELD TV PRO?

Troy do you have any tutorials on how setup & control the Nvidia shield with a Logitech Harmony Elite Remote Control, i searched YouTube without any luck.
I have been using an LG 65 “ plasma Tv, a Western Digital Set top Box and a 2 TB hard drive To store and play movies which I used have on DVDs. I have Netflix, and I want to get ABC Iview and SBS On Demand. Will this model do this. I am approaching 80 yrs of age and I’m not interested in gaming.
Can we add a separated USB 3.0 storage like 256 Gb and merge it as one storage ?
I’ve used Apple TV 4K, and older Roku and FireSticks (both several years older – non 4K); just recently ordered the Nvidia Shield TV Pro. I have tried adding the apps you reference in you YouTube (I’m following you there…GREAT job) videos (to F/S) but haven’t been too successful.
What else can you advise as I get into the Nvidia Shield (android TV box).
